Architectural Design

Design Habbitts specialises in traditional and contemporary design by sympathetically transforming New Zealand’s beautiful colonial buildings into elegant spaces to suit modern day living.

Nicola Habbitts, British born, owes much of her love and affinity for historical buildings to her English heritage. She has however, been working with contemporary New Zealand design since 2004  and consequently has developed a unique style which is an exciting fusion of the old and new.

She started her career in England in 1997 working for S&K Interiors, and spent much of her time studying Georgian and Victorian design and antiques.

In 2001 she decided to pursue her career in New Zealand and moved to Wellington where she completed a Bachelor of Design at Massey University. During this period, she continued to design within her company and also worked at John Mills Architects, gaining as much practical experience as possible.

Her years of experience enable her to plan your project through from initial design consultation to submission of building consent and completion of the overall project. Throughout the process, you have one point of contact which ensures your project runs smoothly, on time and to budget. In 2012 she became a licenced building practitioner, Design 2, (for more information on the Dept. of Building and Housing check out their website)

The majority of projects undertaken are small through to large scale residential renovations. Design Habbitts has also however, completed a number projects for both commercial and educational premises up and down the country. Many of Nicola’s designs have been submitted to the Lower North Island ADNZ Awards and she has won on a number of occasions. She has also achieved multiple Resene Colour Awards and a Dulux Colour Award.
